Santiago!

On Nov. 1 we left San Francisco and the amazing hospitality of my Dad and May Evelyn headed for Atlanta.

Last night we boarded a flight for Santiago, Chile.

This morning, after much airline food and little sleep, we reached our destination. At 8:00am we made our way out of customs (they didn´t bother to inspect our bike boxes at all) and found a quiet corner of a parking lot to begin the reconstruction or our bicycles. Many, many people have been interested in us and our bicycles, and wanted to talk with or simply cheer us on as we rode the highways of Chile.
Tonight, we´re amazed again by the hospitality of a wonderful family that I contacted through the website www.couchsurfing.com.

Now, we head over the Andes to Mendoza!

Ugh! I'm so jealous you're in South America right now!!! The pics so far look beautiful, what an amazing time. And also amazing, your two ER trips were not bike related at all!

and you're off! again... someone in the good part of the "armpit of idaho" is rooting you on. thankyou, postcard sender, and don't even think about that junk o'furniture. i totally forgot about it, no biggie. for some reason i very much like the simile about the bike and a pair of shoes, though i believe one could write a good book about shoes if so inclined. in fact, there may be an entire children's series about shoes, if i'm not mistaken.

Unity!!! Nudity!!! Great cheers, and great that you have cheers, a team needs good cheers. W! T! F!

As well as hairs cut, using no bowl, (well let's put the bowl cut concerns to rest. The foto shows the first part of part two. Part one was real barber clippers, but wanting to go slow as i've only cut my own hair, I switched to scissors for a while. The whole process comprised of clippers, scissors, clippers, scissors, clippers, scissors.
End result, a short, slightly rough, slightly longer on the top, hair cut) there was poetry. And among other things, poetry is about suggestion, by, or in the sense of juxtaposition. For me the Nudity cheer suggests openness. Seeing WTF move through time and space as a functioning entity was energizing and heartwarming. I am so happy for WTF. After dinner one night we got out the poetry, and read and talked for about two hours. Here is one of mine that I could re-title "Nudity". It is one of several two parters, where there is a title, then a title for each part. I hope not too confusing.

Open/Closed

Open

To be open is an act
of volition.
To be open, one must have
one's secrets

To be able to eat a peach
without encumbrances,
whether appropriate
or inappropriate.

Closed

Only if to
oneself

And one more cheer for the team.

Up the Andes, up and on
up the Andes, sing a song
Up the Andes, up and on
W! T! F!
